About this site

The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park is a 25-pitch, adults-only touring and camping park set inside one of the north of England's best-known coarse fisheries at Sessay, near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. The village sits just off the A19 between Thirsk and Easingwold, with the Hambleton Hills filling the view to the north east and York about 40 minutes to the south. Built in 2014 in a quiet corner of the fishery, the park is screened by mature woodland and gives anglers ten lakes with more than 400 pegs a short walk from their pitch, plus a large cafe and a fully stocked tackle shop; campers staying on site can buy reduced price day tickets at the lakeside. All 25 supersized pitches combine hardstanding and grass with individual electric hook-ups, and a heated shower and toilet block with a covered washing-up area arrived in 2019. Be clear about the rules before booking: no under-18s, no dogs, no fires and no loud music, which is exactly why reviewers keep praising the quiet, clean, well-run feel and the good value food in the cafe. Nightly prices for The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park are quoted through the park's online booking system, or by phone on 01845 522989.

Good to know

Is The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park adults only?
Yes, the caravan park is strictly adults only, and its rules are geared to keeping things quiet: no loud music, radios or televisions at high volume, a 5mph speed limit and a firm line on inappropriate behaviour. Families with children need to choose a different North Yorkshire site.
Are dogs allowed at The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park?
No, dogs are not permitted on the caravan park under its published park rules. If you normally tour with a dog you will need to look elsewhere, as there is no dog exercise area and no dog-friendly pitch option anywhere on the site.
Do I have to fish to stay at The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park?
No, anyone can stay, though the park sits inside a working coarse fishery and most guests come for the angling. Ten lakes hold more than 400 pegs for match and pleasure fishing, and campers can buy reduced price day tickets at the lakeside on the day they fish.
What are the pitches like at The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park?
All 25 pitches are supersized hardstanding and grass, each with its own electric hook-up. The park was built in 2014 in a quiet corner of the fishery, sheltered by mature woodland, and a large heated shower and toilet block with a covered washing-up area was added in 2019.
How much does The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park cost per night?
The park does not publish a nightly tariff on its website; prices are quoted through its online booking system, and you can also call the caravan park office on 01845 522989. A 50 per cent booking deposit applies, refunded in full if you cancel more than 14 days ahead.
Are campfires or barbecues allowed at The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park?
No fires are allowed at all under the park rules. Barbecues are permitted, but only in recognised containers raised on a stand, never placed directly on the ground or grass, and pitches must be left completely free of litter when you depart.
