About this site

Members only and adults only, The Old Sun Certificated Site is a two acre grass campsite at Broome near Bungay, certificated by the Camping and Caravanning Club and taking a maximum of 5 caravans or motorhomes plus 5 tents. You must be a Camping and Caravanning Club member to stay, though you can join online, by phone or on arrival, and nobody under 18 is admitted, so this is not a site for families. The Old Sun sits in the Waveney Valley on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, half a mile from Broome village and 1.7 miles from Bungay, with Beccles 4.6 miles away and Norwich, the Broads and the coast each inside about half an hour. Pitches are gently sloping, well drained grass with room for awnings, and there are 5 electric hook-up points. You pick your own spot, either down by the beck or up near the amenities. Facilities are small but genuinely complete: a hot shower, flush WC, drinking water, washing up sink, chemical disposal point, a fridge and freezer, an information lounge, a shared fire pit and a dog exercise field. There is no hardstanding anywhere on site. Two dogs per pitch are welcome at no extra charge, awnings are free too, and the owners live on site. The season runs Easter to the end of September, from £18 a night for two adults, or £22 with electric hook-up.

Good to know

Do you need to be a member to stay at The Old Sun?
Yes, The Old Sun is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site and only Club members can stay. If you are not a member you can still book, then join online, by telephone or on arrival at the site. The owners ask you to quote code 4223 when joining.
Is The Old Sun adults only?
Yes, the site is strictly over 18s and no children are admitted. The owners chose this deliberately to keep the site a quiet rural break for adults, and the Camping and Caravanning Club records it as an Adults Only Certificated Site. It suits couples and solo travellers best.
Are dogs allowed at The Old Sun?
Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome with a maximum of two per pitch and no extra charge. Dogs should be kept on a lead and you are asked to clean up after them. There is a dog exercise field on site, plus walks and cycle routes within a couple of miles.
When is The Old Sun open?
The Old Sun opens from Easter to the end of September for the 2026 season, and the owners note they usually open in the first week of April. There is sometimes availability outside those dates, so check the live availability calendar on their website before you assume it is shut.
How much does a pitch cost at The Old Sun?
Pitches are from £18 a night for two adults, or £22 a night with electric hook-up, with no price rise since 2025. Stays of seven nights or more drop to £16.50 a night, or £20 with electric. Awnings and dogs carry no extra charge.
Is there electric hook-up at The Old Sun?
Yes, the site has 5 electric hook-up points, which you add to a grass pitch for £22 a night rather than £18. Three hook-up pitches sit along the top of the site by the copper beech hedge and two more run along the side hedge, subject to availability.
