About this site

Campfires on the ground are the headline draw at The Orchard Camp Site, a family-run campsite spread over 11 acres of meadow, woodland and pond on the edge of Wickham Market, Suffolk. It sits close to the Suffolk Heritage Coast, about 5 miles from Woodbridge, Framlingham and the Anglo-Saxon burial ground at Sutton Hoo, with Rendlesham Forest a similar distance away and Aldeburgh around 10 miles east. Pitching is free-form: there are no numbered pitches, so you take the space you need across the open meadow, the more secluded woodland or the pond area. There are 20 electric hook ups, 10 of them with freesat TV, though domestic kettles and heaters are not supported. There are no check-in or check-out times either, and you can stay until midnight on your departure day. A safari tent sleeps four and comes with its own loo and shower. Washrooms, showers and the indoor and outdoor kitchen were upgraded in 2024, and there is a free landscaped BBQ area and a coin-operated laundry. The Orchard Camp Site will not suit you if you want hardstanding, numbered pitches or a pool. Wood for the fire is bought on site at £7 a sack, dogs and children camp free, and the 2026 season runs 3 April to 3 October from £34 a night, booked by email direct with the owners.

Good to know

Are campfires allowed at The Orchard Camp Site?
Yes, campfires burn on the ground at your spot, which is the main reason people book. For safety the wood and kindling must be bought on site: it costs £7 a sack for kiln dried wood and £6 a box for kindling, from sustainable sources.
Is The Orchard Camp Site open all year?
No, the site runs a seasonal opening. The 2026 season at Wickham Market runs from 3 April to 3 October. There are no check-in or check-out times within the season, and you can stay on your spot until midnight on the day you leave.
How much does it cost to camp at The Orchard Camp Site?
Pitches start from £34 a night, with or without electric. On electric pitches you also pay for the electricity you actually use, charged at cost. The price covers up to two adults, and cars, awnings, dogs, children and visitors are not charged extra.
Are dogs allowed at The Orchard Camp Site?
Yes, dogs camp free and there is no limit on numbers in the pricing. They must be kept on a lead and under control at all times across the 11 acres of meadow, woodland and pond. Children also camp free with no limit on numbers.
Does The Orchard Camp Site have electric hook-ups?
Yes, there are 20 electric hook ups, and 10 of those also offer freesat TV. Domestic kettles and heaters are not supported on the supply, so plan your kit accordingly. The rest of the 11 acre site is free pitching without electric.
How do you book The Orchard Camp Site?
Bookings go direct to the owners by email at orchardcampsite@gmail.com, or call 07818 034729 for advice. The site does not take bookings through any holiday agency or third party booking site. Card payments are taken online, and bookings are confirmed once paid in full.
