About this site

The Trees at Birkins Croft is a one-off glamping hideaway on a working family smallholding at Foston in south Derbyshire, close to the Staffordshire border. The heart of it is Bairn, a hand-built timber holiday cabin made over many years using traditional carpentry, tucked beneath a copse of oak and ash trees. This is glamping rather than camping: there are no touring or tent pitches, just the cabin, so it works best as a couple's retreat or a quiet getaway for a small group. Inside you get a cosy wood-burning log stove and electricity, and outside there is a fully equipped open-air kitchen and hot showers, so you can live close to nature without giving up comfort. Campfires are part of the experience. The rural Derbyshire setting is quiet and green, with the village of Sudbury and the market town of Uttoxeter both nearby, and the southern Peak District within an easy drive for a bigger day out. The cabin is available all year. To stay at The Trees at Birkins Croft you book directly through the owners' website.

What is in the cabin?
Bairn has a wood-burning log stove and electricity inside, with a fully equipped open-air kitchen and hot showers outside. It is built for comfort close to nature, so you get creature comforts without losing the outdoor, back-to-nature feel.
Where is Birkins Croft?
The site is at Foston in south Derbyshire, close to the Staffordshire border, with the village of Sudbury and the market town of Uttoxeter nearby. The southern Peak District is within an easy drive for a bigger day out.
