It is a great place for watersports lovers, but there are also plenty of opportunities to relax on the sandy beaches or visit places of interest. Watergate Bay is three-quarters of a mile from the site. It has a vast expanse of sand and is perfect for families. The Extreme Academy in Watergate Bay is just one of many places to try surfing, kite-surfing and other watersports. The surfing town of Newquay is five miles from the site. Its other attractions include the Trenance Gardens and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Newquay Zoo's inhabitants range from the smallest monkey and pygmy marmoset to African lions. Dophins and seals are often seen in Newquay Harbour. Fishing trips, scuba diving and powerboat rides are all available. Trerice is an Elizabethan manor house managed by the National Trust. It has a museum dedicated to the history of the lawnmower. Bluereef Aquarium has won awards for its rescue work with sea turtles. It also breeds sharks and seahorses.
