Trekenning Tourist Park

Trekenning Tourist Park is a 6.5-acre, family-run camping and touring park at Trekenning, a mile south of St Columb Major in mid Cornwall, with a heated outdoor pool and its own bar. The park sits just off the A39 about 7 miles from Newquay's beaches, putting Fistral, Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth within a 15-minute drive, along with Newquay Zoo, Blue Reef Aquarium and Camel Creek Adventure Park; expect the odd bit of aircraft noise from nearby Newquay Airport. Pitches take touring caravans, motorhomes and tents with electric hook-ups, but this is mainly a seasonal park (annual pitches cost £3,465 a year), so it suits families and couples wanting a settled, sociable Cornwall base more than tourers after a spacious short-stay pitch. The heated pool opens from 1 May to 31 August, the Hayloft Bar serves local cask ales, and two toilet blocks with individual WCs, a laundry, a children's play area and a dog walking field cover the practicals. Dogs are welcome at £5 a night with a maximum of two per pitch, and disposable barbecues and fire pits are banned.
