Why campers love it here
About this site
Pitches: 40 Opening Dates: Open All Year Upper Hurst Farm is a Camping/Glamping and Caravan site in the heart of the Peak District National Park and close to the picture-postcard village of Hartington. The beauty of our location is that it is very rural with 360-degree panoramic views, where peace and tranquillity is assured.Yet, it is right bang in the centre of the four major market towns of Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne and Leek. So you really do have the best of both worlds here. Our underfloor-heated Toilet/Shower block has been likened to a 5* Hotel and we have 25 generous Super Pitches and 15 Camping Pitches. We also have a holiday cottage for 2 and a Yurt - both of which have their own private wood-fired Hot-tubs. We have a family friendly and dog friendly pub within walking distance. Our ethos is nature-based, we encourage biodiversity in our fields and hedgerows and the majority of our energy is provided from sustainable sources or directly from the sun. We have four characterful and friendly mini Shetland Ponies and offer 'meet the ponies' at weekends. We have resident ÔLittle Owls' as well as other indigenous owls. Buzzards are a common sight and one of our campers has photographed a Red Kite here. We have a large wet room which is suitable for people with access needs and we also make it suitable and available to families with small children and babies. We have a kitchen area for washing up and a washing machine, dryer and small freezer for ice packs. We mow a huge area in an adjacent field for the children to play where they are extremely safe (we are far away from a busy road) and kick a ball around without caution as it is away from the pitches. Dogs are very welcome and we mow paths around and in our 4.5-acre field for dog-walkers. Barbeques are allowed and we hire fire pits We are effectively 10 miles from a supermarket but the two fabulous grocery shops in Hartington provide most needs (most of my shopping is done there). Upper Hurst Farm is a Walkers, Cyclists and Nature-Lovers Paradise. We are in the centre of two huge dales and it is just 1 mile to the River Dove (takes you to Hartington, DoveDale or Biggin) and 1 mile to the River Manifold. It is just 1 mile to the start of the Manifold Cycle Trail and about 3 miles to the Tissington Cycle Trail. The Monsal trail near Bakewell and Chatsworth House is about 11 mile. Upper Hurst Farm is all about immersing yourself in nature within a very friendly, warm and welcoming environ.
