About this site

Winner of AA Campsite of the Year for England in 2017, Vale of Pickering Caravan Park is a five-star, family-run touring, camping and glamping park at Carr House Farm in Allerston, between Pickering and the Yorkshire coast. The Stockdale family opened the site in 1985 and still run it, with Pickering about five miles west, Dalby Forest a short drive north, Scarborough around 11 miles east and Whitby roughly 20 miles away for a proper seaside day out. Hard-standing touring pitches come with 10 amp hook-up, grass tent pitches offer optional 6 amp hook-up, and the Hawthorn Glamping area adds three bell tents and a large eco pod; campers wanting a wild, back-to-basics field are in the wrong place, because this is a polished, well-serviced park. The award-winning facilities include private wet rooms, family bathrooms, a launderette, an on-site shop, the Oakwood Cafe, free wifi, a big adventure playground and a six-acre dog walking field with its own dog shower (up to three dogs per pitch). Visitors return to the same themes in reviews: immaculate grounds, spotless washrooms and genuinely helpful staff. Vale of Pickering Caravan Park opens on 2 March for the 2026 North Yorkshire season, with pitches including electric and two adults from £29.25 a night.

Site very clean. Family shower cubicles, ideal if you have young children. Small shop in reception. No pub. Visiting food vans Fish&chips/ pie/ peas. Excellent play area for kids with a very large football field opposite site entrance. Pickering to Whitby steam train well worth the trip.

Top tip: Pitch 85/86 near toilets
