Why campers love it here
About this site
Woodend Campsite is a small touring site for caravans and motorhomes on Wood End Farm, a traditional working farm on the edge of Austwick in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The address is worth untangling before you set off: post comes via Lancaster and the postcode starts LA2, but that is a sorting office relic, and Austwick sits firmly in North Yorkshire, with Lancaster about 19 miles west. The site is under a mile from Austwick village, roughly two miles from Clapham, four miles from Settle and six from Ingleton, while Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, rises about four miles to the north, so this is walking country first and foremost. Pitches have electric hook up and dogs are welcome. Woodend Campsite takes caravans and motorhomes rather than tents, and it does not open through the winter, so campers under canvas and anyone after a January break in the Dales should look elsewhere. The farm has been worked by the Hird family for around 40 years, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority lists the campsite among its accommodation. One practical warning: the campsite's website is currently offline, so book by phone on 015242 51296 and confirm this season's dates and prices when you call.
