YHA Coverack

YHA Coverack is a Victorian country house hostel on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula with pitch-up camping in its grounds and panoramic sea views over Coverack Bay. The hostel stands at the top of Coverack, a working fishing village, with the village beach less than half a mile downhill and the South West Coast Path running straight through; Helston is about 10 miles away and Roskilly's organic ice cream farm at St Keverne is 2 miles up the road. Camping at YHA Coverack means a grass pitch for your own tent with full use of the hostel's facilities, including the self-catering kitchen, showers and drying room; there are no hardstandings, hook-ups or pitches for caravans or motorhomes, so tourers need a different plan. Walkers, cyclists and families on a budget get the most from it, and anyone rained out of a tent can fall back on the hostel's 33 beds and private rooms. The view is the standout: you cook dinner overlooking the bay, and the grounds hold a volleyball court, an orchard and BBQ areas in a corner of Cornwall that stays properly uncrowded. Dogs stay free in your own tent under YHA's dogs policy, kept on a short lead. Pitches are booked through YHA's booking system, and YHA members get 10% off camping.
