YHA Truleigh Hill

YHA Truleigh Hill is a youth hostel and campsite set right on the South Downs Way in West Sussex, with views stretching to the English Channel. It sits inland from Shoreham-by-Sea, Brighton and Worthing, within the South Downs National Park and close to the Devil's Dyke walk. Camping here means a pitch-up field for up to 20 campers, two premium bell tents with wood burners sleeping four, and two Landpods sleeping four, all with access to the hostel's showers, toilets and self-catering kitchen. It suits walkers, cyclists and Duke of Edinburgh groups who want a proper base on the Downs without hauling a caravan, since there is no hook-up for touring vans or motorhomes here. Families are welcome too, and dogs camp free if you bring your own tent, though there is a small nightly charge for dogs staying in the bell tents. What stands out is the setting: an open, sunny garden well away from busy roads, and disposable barbecues are allowed on the pitches, which is unusual for a YHA site.
