About this site

Archers at Red Bank Farm is a 90 pitch campsite on a working salt marsh sheep farm at The Shore, Bolton-le-Sands, near Carnforth, with pitches looking straight out across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland hills. It won the AA Small Campsite of the Year award for 2021 to 2022 and has since turned up on the Hairy Bikers, and the sunsets over the bay do most of the marketing for it. Pitches 1 to 38 are all weather, grass topped with matting and gravel, and they suit tents, motorhomes and touring caravans; 28 of those have electric hook up. Pitches 39 to 90 are plain grass with no hook up and suit tents and smaller campervans. Access is tight, so anything over seven metres needs an experienced driver behind the wheel. Fire pits are allowed as long as they are raised off the ground and you burn only the compressed logs sold on site, dogs are welcome on short leads, and the farm has a pets corner and the Archers Cafe serving farm cooked food and salt marsh lamb. Bolton-le-Sands village has a chip shop, a Spar and two pubs within a short walk. Group bookings are family groups only, and there are no unaccompanied under 16s. The all weather pitches run from 7 March to 20 December and the grass pitches from 1 April to 31 October, with grass pitches from £22 a night for two.

Good to know

Is Archers at Red Bank Farm dog friendly?
Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome at Archers. They must be kept on a short lead at all times, both for the safety of other families and because this is a working farm with livestock in the surrounding fields. Dogs are not allowed in the toilet block, and there is a sheltered outdoor alfresco area at the cafe for dog owners.
Are campfires or fire pits allowed?
Yes, fire pits are allowed provided they are raised off the ground, and the site keeps bricks to hand if you need to lift yours. Only compressed logs may be burned, and these are sold at reception or by the warden. Burning anything else means being asked to leave immediately. Charcoal BBQs are also fine.
What are the opening dates?
The all weather pitches, numbers 1 to 38, open on 7 March and close on 20 December. The standard grass pitches, numbers 39 to 90, run a shorter season from 1 April until 31 October. If you want a hook up or a hardstanding base outside high summer, you need one of the all weather pitches.
How much is a pitch per night?
Standard grass pitches start from £22 a night for two people, all weather premium non electric pitches from £26, and all weather electric pitches from £34. A 25 per cent non refundable deposit is taken at booking and the balance is due two weeks before arrival. Extra cars are £3 a night and gazebos £3 a night.
Which pitches have electric hook up?
Electric hook up is limited to 28 of the all weather pitches, numbers 1 to 28, so it is worth booking well in advance. All weather premium pitches 29 to 38 have no electric, and the grass pitches from 39 to 90 have none either. All weather pitches take tents, motorhomes and touring caravans.
How far is the beach?
The campsite sits directly on the shore at Bolton-le-Sands, so Morecambe Bay is on the doorstep with panoramic views across to the Lakeland hills. The site is a short walk from Bolton-le-Sands village amenities, and Carnforth, Morecambe and Lancaster are all within a straightforward drive for a day out.
