About this site

Charmill Cottage, now trading as Wild Heart Hill, is a small camping field on the edge of Findon, West Sussex, set into wooded hillside just behind Findon Cricket Club. You are a fifteen to twenty minute walk from Findon village, where three pubs, a cafe, a butcher and a shop cover the basics, with Findon itself sitting under the South Downs a short drive from Worthing. Tents and vans pitch on a mix of hardstanding and open field, with electric hook-up, a shower shack with flushing loos, chemical waste disposal and water on site, and a fire pit provided with every booking, so evenings around the flames are part of the deal rather than an extra. Dogs are genuinely welcome at Wild Heart Hill, with off-lead walks around the hillside, which suits campers travelling with pets more than families wanting a fenced play area, since there is no playground or shop. It does not suit anyone wanting to drive around after dark: cars stay at the entrance and there is no vehicle movement on the hillside once the sun goes down. The family running it frame their approach as reconnecting people with nature rather than running a conventional touring park. Check in from 3pm, out by 11am, and book direct.
