Combas Farm Campsite

Combas Farm Campsite is a back-to-basics, dog-friendly tent site on a working farm in a quiet valley near Croyde and Putsborough in North Devon. It is the nearest permanent camping to Putsborough Sands, the calmer end of Woolacombe Bay, and a short walk down a farm track brings you into Croyde village, while Putsborough beach is roughly a ten minute stroll the other way. The track can get muddy, so wellies are a good idea. Camping has run here since 1955, largely on word of mouth, and generations of campers come back for the friendly welcome and the views. There are three fields with plenty of space to pitch, and a walk to the top of the hill opens up both bays, Lundy Island and, on a clear day, Wales. Facilities sit in a smart converted barn with Belfast sinks and hot showers. This suits tent campers, families and groups who are happy with simple, honest camping, and it is not set up for caravans or motorhomes, with no electric hook-ups in the fields and no card payments, so bring cash, a cheque or pay by bank transfer. Dogs must stay on a lead. The site is open all year and stays are arranged by contacting the farm directly.
