Why campers love it here
About this site
Dartmoor Caravan Park is a small, quiet touring site at Crapstone, near Yelverton on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park in South Devon. Owners Peter and Sue have shaped the ground over more than twenty years, and it shows: each hardstanding pitch is fully serviced with electric, water and waste, screened by beech and conifer hedges for privacy, with a grass area alongside and views down towards the River Tamar and into Cornwall. The park takes caravans and motorhomes only, so tent campers will need to look elsewhere. It suits couples and touring caravanners after a quiet, secure and tidy base rather than an activity park with entertainment. Free high-speed fibre WiFi runs across the site, and there is a clean, well-kept toilet and shower block plus a number of separate seasonal pitches away from the tourers. Dartmoor itself is on the doorstep for walking, cycling around Burrator Reservoir, kayaking and climbing at the Dewerstone, with Plymouth a short drive south for shops and days out. Pitches are priced from £30 a night for two people including electricity, with small charges for extra people and vehicles. Dartmoor Caravan Park is open all year, so it works for off-season trips onto the moor as well as summer stays; arrival is from midday and departure by 11:30am.
