About this site

Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre is a lakeside campsite and watersports centre run by Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust, on the flat Humberhead Levels just outside Doncaster in South Yorkshire. The camping field has 50 spacious pitches, every one with a 10-amp electric hook-up, arranged around a large activity lake. Tents, caravans and motorhomes all fit, and the setup is squarely aimed at active families rather than anyone chasing a quiet corner. The lake is the draw, home to the inflatable Doncaster Aquapark plus kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and open water swimming, with archery, a climbing wall and axe throwing on dry land. Back at the pitches there is an on-site shop, a cafe and bar, a launderette and a refurbished shower block with a cleaner on duty. Old Hatfield village is about a ten-minute walk for shops and pubs, and Thorne and Hatfield Moors, a nationally important lowland peat reserve, sit close by for birdwatching and easy walks. Dogs are welcome. Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre runs seasonally from around late March, and camping pitches and activities are both booked through its own online system, so reserve early for summer weekends when the Aquapark is busiest.

Good to know

Does Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre have electric hook-ups?
Yes, all 50 pitches have a 10-amp electric hook-up, so every touring or tent pitch is powered. There are no non-electric pitches, which makes it straightforward for caravans and motorhomes as well as tents needing power.
Are dogs allowed at Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre?
Yes, dogs are welcome on the campsite. Keep them on a lead around the lake, the activity areas and other campers, and you have Thorne and Hatfield Moors nearby for longer walks across the peatland reserve.
What activities are there at Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre?
The lake hosts the inflatable Doncaster Aquapark, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and open water swimming, while dry land has archery, a climbing wall and axe throwing. It is built for active family stays rather than quiet camping.
When is Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre open?
The centre runs seasonally, reopening from around late March for the warmer months, with the Aquapark opening later in spring. It closes over winter, so plan spring and summer trips and book busy weekends well ahead.
What pitch types does Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre offer?
The site takes tents, caravans and motorhomes across 50 electric pitches. There is no glamping, so bring your own tent or van. An on-site shop, cafe and bar and a refurbished shower block cover the basics.
Is Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre good for families?
Yes, it is aimed at families, with the Aquapark, watersports and a play area on the doorstep. Active children get plenty to do, though light sleepers should expect a busy, lively site rather than a peaceful retreat.
