New Wharf Campsite

New Wharf Campsite is a family-run farm campsite on the banks of the River Adur at Ashurst, near Steyning in West Sussex. The site sits at Horsebridge Common, around an hour from London and about fifteen minutes from the coast, with Brighton some thirty five minutes away. Campers bring their own tents and pitch in the main field, where pitches are spaced out and tractor-tyre swings keep children entertained, or you can book a shepherd's hut with its own log burner and outdoor loo, or an already-pitched bell tent. A private launch point on the Adur means you can swim, kayak, canoe or paddleboard straight from New Wharf Campsite, which is the real draw here rather than any polish on the facilities. This is not a site for total peace and quiet in high season, since the river brings plenty of company on warm weekends, but it suits families and groups happy to be part of a busy little West Sussex riverside community. Dogs are welcome for a small fee, and campfires and barbecues are allowed provided they are raised off the ground. The site was previously listed as Pop-up by the River under the Pop-up Campsites brand, and pitches now start from £16 a person a night.
