Why campers love it here
About this site
Slapton Sands Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a Club-owned, tree-lined campsite on the South Devon Heritage Coast near Torcross, a short walk from the long shingle beach at Slapton Sands. The beach separates the sea from Slapton Ley, a freshwater lagoon and National Nature Reserve that is a haven for wildlife watchers. Level grass and hardstanding pitches welcome tents and motorhomes, with some pitches enjoying views over Start Bay, though caravans are limited to eight at a time due to the narrow approach roads and only Club member caravans are permitted. It suits beach lovers, walkers and families rather than anyone after a lively holiday park. Facilities include showers, a shop, wifi, laundry, a designated dog walk and accessible washrooms, and pets are welcome, with Slapton Sands beach dog friendly all year. Most grass pitches slope, so levelling ramps help, and longer hook-up cables are handy. The Start Bay Inn at Torcross and pubs at Slapton serve local seafood and ales within a few minutes' walk. Note that road closures mean there is currently no bus service from site, and campers should not follow sat nav towards Torcross. Slapton Sands opens late March to late October, with member pitch prices from £11.30 per night.
