Sugar Park Campsite

Sugar Park Campsite is a back to basics campsite above Beesands on the South Hams coast, a five minute walk from the beach and with wide views over Start Bay. It sits near Kingsbridge in South Devon, close to the fishing village of Beesands and within reach of Hallsands, Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands. Facilities are deliberately simple, with two clean toilets in a brick block and cold drinking water taps around the site, but no showers and no electric hook ups, so this is one for campers happy to rough it a little for the sake of the sea views. Tents, campervans and caravans are all taken, though the ground sits on a slope, so most pitches lean slightly and the owners suggest bringing chocks for vehicles. Dogs, children and even the resident cows are part of the deal, which makes it relaxed and unfussy rather than polished. What stands out is the position, with sea views from nearly every pitch and the Cricket Inn and Britannia at the Beach seafood shack both a short walk down in the village. Sugar Park is open from April to the end of September and can close in very wet spells, so check availability with the campsite before travelling.
