Why campers love it here
About this site
Tarka Trail Camping is a quiet, family-run campsite beside the Tarka Trail on the Taw estuary at Lower Yelland Farm, Yelland, near Barnstaple in North Devon. The large, level grass field takes tents, campervans, motorhomes and touring caravans, with non-electric pitches and hardstanding electric hook-up pitches, plus a private gate opening straight onto the traffic-free trail. A modern heated amenity block provides hot showers, toilets, a disabled and family bathroom, baby changing, a dishwashing room and phone charging, which makes Tarka Trail Camping a comfortable base for walkers, cyclists and families rather than anyone wanting a big holiday park with a pool and clubhouse. The site opens roughly late March to the end of September. Estuary views, the Yelland Manor Brewery next to the field, and cafes and pubs within walking distance round out the setting. Barnstaple and Bideford are about 5 miles away, Westward Ho! about 6, and the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe are within reach. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead across this North Devon site.
