About this site

Perched above Langsett Reservoir on the edge of the Peak District National Park, The Barn is a certificated site at Hoodlands Farm, west of Penistone in South Yorkshire. It is a members' pitch through the Camping and Caravanning Club, taking tents, caravans and motorhomes on high, open ground with no electric supply, so self-contained camping is the order of the day. The reservoir sits just below the farm and draws walkers straight from the pitch into the woods and out onto the moors, with the village of Langsett providing a car park, an information point and a café for tea and bacon rolls. The nearest town is Penistone, four miles down the valley, with shops and a station on the Huddersfield line, while Barnsley lies a short drive to the north-east. Dogs cannot be accommodated, so the site stays quiet for the walkers and tourers who favour it. Remember that The Barn shares the Langsett farm with a separate campsite listing, so check which pitch you are booking and bring your club membership.
