Trecombe Lakes

Trecombe Lakes is a nine acre glamping site of timber pods and lakeside lodges in a wooded valley near Mawnan Smith, 5 miles from Falmouth in west Cornwall. Seven spring fed lakes thread through the grounds, with row boats, rope swings and a woodland adventure playground down among the trees. The pods sleep four to five in one double and two singles, each with a compact kitchen, a shower room, a Weber barbecue and a private fire pit on the deck; the lodges sleep up to six and add underfloor heating, a log burner and a Swedish hot bath on the decking. This is glamping only: there are no tent or touring pitches, and dogs are not accepted, so campers with their own kit or a terrier in the boot should book elsewhere. The water is the draw here, and reviewers back that up, praising the well equipped pods, the peaceful lakeside setting and the attentive owners. The Helford River's wooded creeks and the valley gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan lie just south, while Falmouth adds Gyllyngvase and Swanpool beaches, the harbour and a proper run of Cornish restaurants, all in a quiet pocket of Cornwall between river and sea. Trecombe Lakes opens all year, with pod breaks from £375 for a three night weekend and two night stays available off season.
