About this site

Watermouth Valley Camping Park, formerly Big Meadow, is a family-run touring and camping park on the coast road between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin in North Devon, opposite Watermouth Castle and its harbour. The family first camped here in the early 1990s and have run the site since 1994, and it keeps a friendly, straightforward camping feel. Pitches take tents, caravans and motorhomes, and the park sits within easy reach of Broadsands Beach and the wider North Devon coast, with Woolacombe, Croyde Bay, Barnstaple and Lynton and Lynmouth all a manageable drive away. Fire pits and logs are sold on site, so campfire evenings are part of the set-up, and there is food available on site along with Ellie's shop for essentials. It suits families and couples who want a coastal base for beaches and the South West Coast Path rather than a park packed with pools and clubs. One thing to note, the postcode EX34 9SJ points sat-navs to Watermouth Castle, so look for the entrance about 300 yards past the castle. Watermouth Valley Camping Park is the current name for the site once known as Big Meadow, and bookings for the season can be made through the park's website.

Good to know

Are campfires allowed at Watermouth Valley Camping Park?
Yes, fire pits are part of the set-up, and the park sells fire pits and logs on site, so campfire evenings are catered for. This makes it a good choice for campers who like to gather round a fire, which many coastal North Devon sites do not permit.
Is Watermouth Valley the same site as Big Meadow?
Yes, Watermouth Valley Camping Park is the current name for the site previously known as Big Meadow. It is a family-run touring and camping park on the coast road between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, and has been run by the same family since 1994.
Is there food available on site at Watermouth Valley?
Yes, there is food available on site along with Ellie's shop for everyday essentials, so you can pick up supplies without heading into town. Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are both a short drive away for more shops, pubs and restaurants along the North Devon coast.
How do you find Watermouth Valley Camping Park with sat nav?
The postcode EX34 9SJ directs sat navs to nearby Watermouth Castle rather than the park entrance. Coming from Ilfracombe, the second entrance is about 300 yards past the castle on the left. From Combe Martin, look for it around 300 yards past the Sawmills pub.
Which beaches are near Watermouth Valley?
Broadsands Beach is close to the park, and the wider North Devon coast is easy to reach, with the surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde Bay a manageable drive away. Barnstaple, Lynton and Lynmouth are also within reach for days out beyond the coast.
