About this site

Waterside Lodge Certificated Site is a ten pitch caravan and motorhome site run by Sefton North Scouts on Marine Drive in Southport, open only to members of the Scout Association or another caravan or motorhome club or association. The location is the draw: the centre sits within a fully fenced, secure site on the seafront, adjacent to Southport Pier and the beach, with Marine Lake and the town's shops and restaurants a walk away. Each pitch on the dedicated field has 16amp electric hook up, a drinking water tap, and chemical waste and grey water disposal points, with toilets and pay per use showers on site. Caravans and motorhomes up to 8.5 metres are welcome and that limit is firm; tents are not allowed at all, so Waterside Lodge is no good for tent campers, anyone with a longer outfit, or anyone hoping to roll up on spec, because pre booking is required. What makes the site unusual is where the money goes: it is run by the Scout district and every penny it takes maintains the centre for at least a thousand young people in Sefton North and beyond. Arrivals are from 1.30pm and departures by 12.30pm, and pitches are from £27 a night Sunday to Thursday, rising to £31 on Fridays and Saturdays with a two night minimum.

Good to know

Do you need to be a member to stay at Waterside Lodge?
Yes, the ten unit caravan site is for members of The Scout Association or of another caravan or motorhome club or association. You do not have to be a Scout specifically, but you do need current membership of a recognised club, so casual bookings from the general public are not accepted.
Can you pitch a tent at Waterside Lodge?
No, tents are not allowed on the caravan site. There is a separate camping area at the centre, but that is reserved for Scouts and groups using the activity centre rather than the public. The caravan field takes caravans and motorhomes up to 8.5 metres only.
How much does a pitch cost?
Pitches are from £27 a night Sunday to Thursday and £31 on Fridays and Saturdays, with a minimum two night booking covering Friday and Saturday. Special event weekends are £35 a night. Sefton North Scouts raised these rates on 1 January 2026 because of the rise in electricity costs.
How close is the beach and Southport Pier?
Very close. Waterside Lodge sits on Marine Drive on the Southport seafront, immediately adjacent to the pier and the beach, which makes it an easy base for the town on foot. Marine Lake is on the doorstep and Southport's shops and restaurants are a short walk inland.
What facilities are on the caravan site?
Every pitch has a 16amp electric hook up and a drinking water tap, and the field has chemical waste and grey water disposal points. Toilets are available on site along with showers, which are pay per use. The whole site is fully fenced and secure, with arrivals from 1.30pm.
How do you book?
Pre booking is required, and there is no instant online booking. You complete the enquiry form on the Waterside Lodge website or ring the office on 01704 510900 to check availability first. Departures are by 12.30pm, and the site is run by volunteers, so allow time for a reply.
