About this site

Whittingham & Goosnargh Sports & Social Club is a members' sports and social club on the old Whittingham Hospital grounds near Preston that runs a small campsite alongside the bar, ten minutes from junction 32 of the M6. The club sits between the villages of Whittingham and Goosnargh in rural Lancashire, with buses to Preston and Longridge from the end of the lane and The Stags Head pub passed on the way in. The caravan park is a new paving grid area that takes individual bookings or small rallies, with 24 hour toilet access at the rear of the club on a door code, drinking water and Elsan points, showers, and a limited number of electric hook ups that must be booked in advance. Be warned: Phase 2 of the club's redevelopment started in September 2025, so camping spaces and hook ups are limited and there may be noise and disruption during your stay. Planning terms also cap any stay at 15 consecutive nights. Well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead, open fires are banned (raised barbecues are fine), and under 16s must leave the club premises by 9pm under the licence, which families should factor in. Behind the club is a well kept bowling green, and inside are two full size snooker tables, darts and at least two cask ales. Pitches are £13 a night, or £20 with electric hook up.

Good to know

How much is a pitch at Whittingham Club?
A campsite pitch is £13 a night on its own, or £20 a night with an electric hook up. Hook up points are limited and must be booked in advance, more so while the building work continues. For bookings or enquiries email bookings@whittinghamclub.com or ring 01772 865339.
Are dogs allowed at the campsite?
Yes, well behaved pets are welcome both on the site and inside the club itself. The club asks that dogs are kept on a lead at all times in the pitching area and on site roads, and that you clean up after them. The lane outside is a popular dog walking route.
Can you have a campfire?
No, open fires are not permitted anywhere on the site. Barbecues are welcome as long as they are raised off the ground so they do not scorch the grass. The club also asks campers to keep noise down at all times, since there are neighbours and a nursing home nearby.
Is the campsite affected by the building work?
Yes, Phase 2 of the club's redevelopment began on 18 September 2025 and covers a new club house, car parking, the fields beside the club, the beer garden and the bowling green area. Camping spaces and electric hook ups are limited as a result, and there may be noise during your stay.
Do you have to be a club member to camp?
No, the club welcomes visiting campers and says its regular caravan and motorhome visitors return year after year. Club membership costs £15 a year and gets you a discount at the bar, so it can pay for itself on a longer stay. Access to the club is included with your pitch.
How far is Preston and the M6?
The club is a ten minute drive from junction 32 of the M6 at Broughton, which makes it a handy overnight stop as well as a base. Preston city centre is about twenty minutes away, and regular buses run to Preston and Longridge from the end of the club lane.
