Why campers love it here
About this site
Wilton Farm Campsite and Working Farm is an off-grid, tents-only site on a family-run farm above South Pool, near Kingsbridge and Salcombe in South Devon. It sits high in the South Hams overlooking the Salcombe Estuary, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and camping runs at £13 per adult per night, with lower rates for children and free dogs. This is free-range, back-to-nature camping, so pitch where you like among the fields and settle in for a campfire under the stars. Facilities are deliberately basic and eco-minded, with compost loos, heated showers and washing huts, but no electric hook-ups and no chemical waste disposal. Note the site cannot take caravans or large motorhomes, as the narrow country lanes will not suit them, so this is one for tent campers and small camper setups only. Families and dog owners are welcome, and there is a farm shop, a hangout barn and hand-reared Jersey cows, lambs and chicks to meet. Walk the old bridleway down to the creek for paddleboarding or kayaking, or catch the ferry from East Portlemouth across to Salcombe. Wilton Farm opens for the main season and picks up strong reviews, so book ahead for summer weeks near Kingsbridge and Salcombe.
