Wyreside Farm Park

Wyreside Farm Park is a seven acre, family run touring and camping park beside the River Wyre at St Michaels on Wyre, near Garstang, holder of a David Bellamy Gold conservation award and firmly not interested in large groups. The field is flat and well sheltered, and pitches are set around the edge rather than packed down the middle, so you are not staring into someone else's awning. The Grapes pub is a five minute walk, Garstang and its Thursday market are 4.5 miles away, Preston is 11 miles, Blackpool 13 and Lancaster 15, and the bus stop outside the gate runs west to the Fylde Coast and north towards Garstang, Lancaster and Morecambe. There are 16 electric hook ups for caravans and motorhomes, a separate camping field for tents with optional fire pits, and toilets, showers and pot washing shared by everyone. Children under six stay free and there is an adjoining field for them to play in, but large groups are turned away, so this is no place for a stag weekend. The pleasure of St Michaels on Wyre is the small stuff: free roaming hens whose eggs are sold for charity, a dog friendly riverside walk straight from the gate, and fishing on the Wyre with permits from the local garage. Wyreside Farm Park opens 1 March to 31 October and pitches start from £30 a night for two adults.
