Why campers love it here
About this site
Chalk downland south west of Dorchester is the setting for Ashton Field Certificated Site, a small pitch on the land at Ashton Farm in Dorset. Grid reference and postcode place it close to Martinstown, some three miles out from Dorchester. That position pays off for the Jurassic Coast, with Chesil Beach about five miles to the south and Weymouth around seven, while Maiden Castle, the vast Iron Age hillfort, rises roughly two miles east. Membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club is a condition of staying, because this is a Certificated Site: five caravans or motorhomes at any one time is the ceiling, and 28 consecutive days is the longest anyone can remain. Caravans, motorhomes and tents all pitch here, and hook up is available. Two restrictions matter before booking. Dogs are not accepted, and the site is not geared up for families. Couples and solo travellers are the people Ashton Field suits, particularly those after a plain farm field and dark skies instead of facilities laid on for them. No website exists and no price list is published, so call 01305 889811 to settle opening dates, availability and rates.
