The town of Bakewell is just over five miles from the site. It is accessible by bus. There is a thriving market held on Monday, or visit the Old House Museum. An arts festival is held in August. An old railway track between Bakewell and Buxton is now the Monsal Trail for cyclists and walkers. There are several Nature Reserves to explore in the area.
