Why campers love it here
About this site
Bartletts Camping and Caravan Site is a small farm campsite at East Shilvinghampton Farm near Portesham, between Weymouth and Bridport in Dorset. The Bartlett family have farmed here since 1938, and the touring site now runs alongside their wider Shilvington operation of glamping, a holiday let and farm produce. It is a Camping and Caravanning Club certificated site with room for tents and five caravans, plus fields that can take larger groups and rallies. Pitches have electric hook up, with a chemical disposal point, drinking water and freezing facilities, and an honesty shop selling milk, bread, home reared eggs, sausages, bacon, burgers and steaks. There are no toilet or shower facilities on the camping and caravan site, so it best suits self contained tourers and campervans rather than tent campers who need a shower block. The farm setting is quiet and rural, roughly ten minutes from Chesil Beach on the Jurassic Coast and about fifteen minutes from Weymouth's sandy seafront. Fire pit and barbecue use is allowed subject to conditions, and there are alpaca walks and a sauna on the farm. Bartletts trades today as part of East Shilvinghampton Farm, and pitches are booked directly with the site rather than through published online rates.
