Why campers love it here
About this site
Broomhill Farm is a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site, a small five pitch site on a working beef farm near Sudbury in south Derbyshire. As a certificated site it is deliberately compact: there are five grass pitches for caravans or motorhomes plus space for around ten tents, with an area of hardstanding kept back for wet spells. You pitch on flat grassland right beside the fields where the family's Hereford and Simmental cattle graze, sheltered at one end by mature oak trees. Facilities are simple and well kept, with electric hook up, two drinking water taps, a shower room with washbasin and toilet, a washing up sink and an Elsan point. Dogs and families are genuinely welcome, calves appear in the red brick farmyard in season, and homemade cakes are served in the garden on selected weekends. Broomhill Farm sits in farm country south of the Peak District rather than in it, but you are well placed for days out: Sudbury Hall and its Museum of Childhood are 5 minutes away, Alton Towers about 20 minutes, and the market towns of Uttoxeter and Ashbourne roughly 13 and 20 minutes by car. Pitches start from £18 a night including electric hook up, booked directly with the farm.
