About this site

California Cross Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a Club owned touring park set in quiet South Hams countryside between Modbury and Ivybridge in South Devon. The location puts Dartmoor National Park to the north and the sandy beaches of the South Devon Heritage Coast to the south, with Ivybridge (about 7 miles away and the start of the 102 mile Two Moors Way) handy for walkers. Pitches come as grass with or without electric hook up, hardstanding with electric and larger jumbo pitches, taking tents, caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents, and seasonal pitches are available. It suits tranquillity seekers, walkers and beach lovers rather than anyone after a big activity park, and the access along narrow country lanes with passing places makes it a less easy arrival for very large units. Some pitches slope and need levelling. A pub and small shop selling local food sit just a few hundred yards away, which is a genuine plus in such an off the beaten track spot. Worth knowing that there is no dog walk on site, though pets are welcome. California Cross opens from late April to late September, with member pitch prices from £9.30 per adult per night, booked through the Club.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at California Cross Club Site?
Yes, pets are welcome at California Cross. One thing to note is that there is no dog walk within the site itself, so you will need to head out along the surrounding lanes and footpaths for walks. Assistance dogs are of course welcome throughout the site.
When is California Cross Club Site open?
The site opens seasonally, running from late April to late September (30 April to 27 September in 2026). It is not open through winter, so plan spring, summer or early autumn trips. Booking ahead through the Club is sensible in the peak school holiday weeks.
How much does it cost to stay?
Member pitch prices start from £9.30 per adult per night, with additional charges for non members and for extras. Prices vary by pitch type, with electric hook up, hardstanding and jumbo pitches costing more than a basic grass pitch. Book through the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Is there electric hook up?
Yes, California Cross offers grass pitches with electric hook up and hardstanding pitches with electric hook up, alongside grass pitches with no electric. Super service pitches with fresh water and waste drainage are also available for those wanting a little extra convenience while camping.
What is nearby?
Dartmoor National Park lies to the north and the South Devon Heritage Coast to the south, with beaches at Bigbury on Sea and Mothercombe. Ivybridge, about 7 miles away, marks the start of the Two Moors Way. A pub and shop sit a few hundred yards from the site.
