About this site

Catseye Cottage Certificated Site is a one acre, adults only camping and caravanning site at Norden, just north of Corfe Castle in the Purbeck hills of Dorset. The field is level and takes up to five caravans or motorhomes plus up to ten tents, the standard Certificated Site limit, so the atmosphere stays quiet by design. Corfe Castle village and its ruined keep sit under a mile south, Norden station on the Swanage Railway is within a mile, and Wareham is about four miles north. Pitch options cover grass without electric, grass with electric hook up, hardstanding with electric hook up and hardstanding only, and there are showers, washbasins and dishwashing on site. Catseye Cottage is adults only and does not take pets, so families with children and anyone travelling with a dog need to look elsewhere in Dorset. What stands out is the combination of a proper small site feel, year round opening and a steam railway station within walking distance, which is a rare set of three. The site opens all year, booking is essential (the owners ask for no phone calls after 6pm) and Club member prices run from £19.00 a night.

Good to know

Is Catseye Cottage Certificated Site adults only?
Yes, Catseye Cottage has chosen to be adults only, so children are not accepted. Most Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Sites do permit children, but this one does not, which makes it a quiet option for couples and solo travellers using Corfe Castle as a base for Purbeck.
Are dogs allowed at Catseye Cottage?
No, pets are not permitted at Catseye Cottage. The Camping and Caravanning Club listing states plainly that no pets are allowed on site, so if you travel with a dog you will need a different base near Corfe Castle. Check with the site directly in case the policy has changed.
Does Catseye Cottage have electric hook up?
Yes, Catseye Cottage offers grass pitches with electric hook up and hardstandings with electric hook up, alongside grass and hardstanding pitches without power. Showers, washbasins and dishwashing facilities are on site, which is generous for a one acre Certificated Site taking only five vans.
Is Catseye Cottage open all year?
Yes, the Camping and Caravanning Club listing shows the site open from 1 January to 31 December, so you can pitch up well outside the usual season. Booking is essential, and the owners ask that you do not telephone after 6pm, so make your call earlier in the day.
How much does it cost to stay at Catseye Cottage?
Club member prices run from £19.00 to £27.00 a night, quoted per unit per night. This is a member exclusive Certificated Site, so you need Camping and Caravanning Club membership to book, and reservations are made through the Club once you are logged in to your account.
How close is Catseye Cottage to Corfe Castle?
The site sits at Norden, under a mile north of Corfe Castle village and its ruined castle. Norden station on the Swanage Railway is within a mile, so you can take the steam train down through Corfe Castle and on to Swanage without moving the caravan at all.
