Crowden Camping And Caravanning Club Site

Crowden Camping and Caravanning Club Site is a Club site in the Dark Peak, set about 6 miles north east of Glossop on the Woodhead Road, deep in walking country in the Peak District National Park. It sits at the end of a demanding stretch of the Pennine Way, so it is a favourite with walkers, and backpackers arriving on foot with their own kit can always be squeezed in for the night. There are around 45 grass and hardstanding pitches, most with electric hook up, for caravans, motorhomes and tents, plus camping pods that sleep three to four and safari tents that sleep six if you fancy glamping. Facilities are well kept, with hot showers, toilets, baby changing, a laundry and dishwashing sinks, along with accessible facilities. The scenery is the headline, with the Woodhead and Torside reservoirs close by and the Longdendale Trail, along the old Woodhead railway line, running past several reservoirs on a route that suits wheelchairs and pushchairs. Keep an eye out for birds of prey overhead. Hadfield and Holmfirth are nearby, and Manchester and Sheffield are both under an hour away, with trains from Hadfield. Crowden is open for the main season, roughly April to early November, and booked through the Club.
