Why campers love it here
About this site
Camp Dartington is a simple, car-free campsite on the Dartington estate, about five minutes from the market town of Totnes in South Devon. The pitches sit amid rolling hills and ancient woodland managed by the Dartington Trust, with uninterrupted views towards Haytor on Dartmoor and a morning dip in the River Dart just a short walk away, while the sea is around 20 minutes by car. Non-electric pitches take tents and campervans or motorhomes, and you can upgrade to a heated glamping pod with a double bed and bed linen, or hire a ready-pitched bell tent through local provider Breezy Bell Tents. Off-ground BBQs and fire pits are welcome, dogs are allowed, and hot showers, toilets, a dishwashing area and a freezer for ice blocks are on site. Because cars park in a separate area away from the field, Camp Dartington suits campers who want a quiet, back-to-basics estate stay rather than a hook-up pitch or a large touring-caravan set-up. Footpaths lead through 1,200 acres of conservation land where otters and kingfishers turn up, and the estate's barn cinema, gardens, pub and cafes are a stroll away. It sits near Totnes in South Devon and books directly through the Dartington Trust, with tent pitches from around £20 a night for two adults and glamping pods from £65 a night on a two-night minimum.
