Why campers love it here
About this site
Dartmoor Halfway Inn is a traditional pub with its own camping and caravan site on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, at Bickington near Newton Abbot in South Devon. The site has 25 individual hardstanding and grass pitches for caravans, motorhomes and touring units, most with electric and water hook-ups across standard, comfort and premiere grades, plus a separate tent field taking up to around 15 tents depending on size. Glamping bell tents are available too, kitted out with a proper double bed for anyone who wants the camping feel without the setup. A newly refurbished shower block with disabled facilities and a laundry room keeps the practical side sorted, and dogs are welcome. The obvious draw is the inn itself: home-cooked food and a couple of pints mean you can skip cooking, or grab a barbecue food parcel and eggs from the shop instead. Bickington sits three miles from Newton Abbot with the A38 close by, so it works as a base for Dartmoor walks and the South Devon coast alike. It suits couples, families and touring groups who like a pub on the doorstep, less so those wanting a remote wild-camping hush. The Dartmoor Halfway Inn campsite generally opens mid-March to the end of October.
