Why campers love it here
About this site
Evergreen Farm Woodland Campsite is a low-key, back-to-basics pitch in ten acres of ancient woodland on a working farm near East Grinstead, West Sussex. It sits on Saint Hill Road, five minutes' drive from East Grinstead's shops, pubs and the Bluebell Railway, with Ashdown Forest around ten minutes away by car. Twelve pitches are spread through the trees around a natural pond, each with an optional fire pit and logs provided, and a quad bike with trailer helps carry your kit in from the car park. Evergreen Farm suits tents, small campervans, caravans and motorhomes looking for a genuinely wild woodland pitch with dogs welcome, but it will not suit anyone wanting electric hook-up, showers or a manicured touring park: there are compost toilets only, and reviewers note the ground around the pond turns muddy after rain, so the fields nearer the car park are the safer bet in wet weather. Deer and badgers are regular visitors, and the working farm setting gives the site a genuine, unpolished character. What stands out is the sense of proper woodland camping, tucked away yet close enough to East Grinstead for a pub trip. Book ahead by phone, as Evergreen Farm does not run online booking.
