About this site

Fairoaks Farm Campsite is a back-to-basics field for tents and glamping on a working farm at Wiston, near Steyning in West Sussex, run under a Countryside Stewardship agreement that keeps the meadow properly wild. The camping meadow sits about a mile down a bumpy farm track from the nearest road, among ancient woodland roughly two and a half miles from Steyning, so you get proper quiet rather than a view of passing cars. There is fresh drinking water, simple loos and a shared washing-up area, but Fairoaks Farm is off-grid: no showers, no hot water and no electric hook-up, so it suits campers happy to rough it rather than anyone wanting a hot shower after a day at the beach. Campfires are allowed, which along with dark, unlit skies makes this a genuine spot for stargazing once the sun goes down. Glamping is available if a tent and a washing-up bowl are not quite your idea of a good night's sleep. Dogs are welcome, and the working farm setting means livestock and hedgerows rather than a shop or playground. The nearest pub is a 25 to 30 minute walk, and Brighton is around 25 minutes by car. Fairoaks does not publish nightly rates, so check pricing directly before you travel.
