Why campers love it here
About this site
Freshwell Camping Croyde is a family-run tent and glamping site a two-minute walk from the entrance to Croyde Beach in North Devon, with full views of the bay from the field. Campers pitch where they like across open grass, and there are glamping bell tents and a hut for anyone who wants a bed rather than a groundsheet. Bookings go by group size, showers run hot and free around the clock, and there is wetsuit washing, drinking-water taps and free parking beside your pitch, but there are no electric hook-ups, so bring portable power. This is a surf-and-beach site squarely aimed at families and small groups; it takes small campervans but no caravans or full-size motorhomes, does not accept dogs other than guide dogs, and turns away all-under-18 and stag or hen groups. Open fires are not allowed, though fire pits are permitted, and an on-site food stall serves fresh breakfasts and dinners in season. Croyde village is a ten-minute walk for pubs, shops and surf hire, with Croyde Bay's waves right on the doorstep and Saunton Sands nearby. Reviewers return year after year for the beach views, the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly staff. Freshwell Camping Croyde opens for summer from 1 May to 13 September 2026, and pitches are booked online with a deposit. Come for the surf, not the mod cons.
