Gaggle Of Geese Pub And Campsite is a freehouse pub with camping and glamping in the village of Buckland Newton, rural Dorset, roughly 11 miles north of Dorchester and 9 miles south of Sherborne. Simon and Sarah run the place, and the five acres of award winning gardens are the heart of it, with a skittle alley, crazy golf, pygmy goats and a children's play bus. A wildflower field is set aside for camping, with room to pitch a tent or park a campervan. There are no touring caravan pitches and no electric hook up, so this is one for tent campers, campervanners and anyone after a glamping stay. For more comfort, three shepherd huts (Birdie, Bumble and Bug) come with wood burners, bedding and firepits, and there are furnished bell tents sleeping up to four. Shower and toilet facilities sit in a converted shepherd hut and horsebox, with a washing up shack alongside. The obvious draw is the pub itself: home cooked food, a garden wood fired oven on summer Saturdays and a proper base for walkers. The Gaggle of Geese has featured in national press for its pub camping and its garden. Shepherd huts take bookings all year, while the campsite and bell tents run from Easter through summer.
