Why campers love it here
About this site
Galton Campsite is a pop up tent and campervan field on Galton Farm, a family run organic beef farm at Galton near Owermoigne, off the A352 south east of Dorchester in Dorset. It opens for a limited run of dates each year rather than a full season, so this is not a site to turn up at unannounced: the farm publishes its open dates and asks everyone to pre book. Camping is spread across one wide open field, with tents, trailer tents, roof tents and campervans accepted. There is no electric hook up and caravans are not taken. You self check in and choose your own pitch anywhere in the field, which suits campers who like space and dislike marked bays. Facilities are simple but real: clean toilets and hot showers. Campfires are allowed, which is the main draw and increasingly hard to find in Dorset, and friendly dogs are welcome provided they stay on a lead and are not left unattended. The farm is organic, the cattle are outdoor reared, and a footpath runs straight through the middle of it. The sea is 2 miles away at Ringstead Bay, and Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are a short drive away. Galton Campsite quotes prices and open dates direct, so email or ring the farm to book.
