About this site

Gara Bridge Certificated Site is a small, back to nature Camping and Caravanning Club site on the banks of the River Avon at Gara Bridge, near Totnes in the South Hams of South Devon. Run by Paddy and Jenny, it is a level one acre grass field with only five pitches, so there will never be more than five bookings at a time. Tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes are all welcome, with five electric hook ups, drinking water, a chemical disposal point and toilets and showers installed in 2024. Barbecues and fire pits are welcome as long as they are kept off the grass. Guests also get sole use of an adjoining four acre riverside paddock for dog walking, picnics and games, plus a covered Campsite Den stocked with a fridge, freezer, games and books for rainy days, and free brown trout fly fishing along the site's banks. It suits couples, families and dog owners after peace and simplicity, though as a Club Certificated Site you need to be a Camping and Caravanning Club member (joining is straightforward). Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are all 15 to 20 minutes away, with Bigbury and Bantham beaches within 25 minutes. Pitches at Gara Bridge start from £25 a night.
