About this site

Golden Valley Caravan and Camping Park is a lively, family focused touring and camping park set in wooded countryside beside the Cromford Canal at Golden Valley, near Ripley in Derbyshire. The park sits just off the M1 and about 5 minutes from Ripley town, with the Midland Railway steam museum a short walk away and Matlock, Matlock Bath and Gulliver's Kingdom around 20 minutes by car. There are over 100 pitches, both with and without electric hook up, so there is room for tents, caravans and motorhomes, and seasonal pitches are available too. What sets Golden Valley apart is how much there is for children to do on site in high season, from a zip line, bumper boats and quad bike rides to a bouncy castle, an undercover sandpit and four outdoor play areas, plus a large carp fishing pond and a wildlife pond. There is a camp shop and a cafe serving food, drinks and alcohol from a licensed bar, along with free wifi around the reception and cafe area. This is a busy activity park rather than a quiet rural retreat, so it suits families and groups more than campers after silence. Pitches start from £30 a night based on two adults and a car, with children charged separately, and you book through the Golden Valley website.
