Why campers love it here
About this site
Green Valley Yurts is a small glamping site of Mongolian yurts and an off grid cabin, set on an organic smallholding in the Cerne Valley near Dorchester, Dorset. This is glamping only, with no touring or tent pitches: guests stay in furnished yurts heated by wood stoves and lit by solar lamps and candles rather than mains electricity, or in a self catering eco cabin with views over the downs. The site sits at Godmanstone, in the Dorset Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a short drive from Dorchester and the coast, with the Cerne Abbas Giant close by and a stream on site for paddling. A facilities barn provides cooking space, hot showers and a bath, and there is a health food shop and vegetarian cafe on the smallholding. Fire pits mean campfires are part of the stay. The yurts sleep up to four to six people and suit families and couples after a quiet, back to nature break, but the site does not take hen or stag parties. Because the yurts run without electricity, it works best for guests happy to swap plug sockets for wood stoves and candlelight. Green Valley Yurts opens in the warmer months, with low season three night weekends from £355 and full weeks from £675, rising in high season. Couples' rates are available on request.
