Hennock Hideaways

Hennock Hideaways is a relaxed camping and glamping site on a family smallholding at Hennock, above Bovey Tracey near Newton Abbot on the eastern edge of Dartmoor in Devon. The pitch is the view: a wide sweep across the Teign Valley towards Haldon Forest, with space to turn up, pick a scenic spot and settle in rather than being funnelled onto a numbered plot. Camping is the mainstay, with glamping also on offer, and the site keeps things simple and rustic: flushing toilets, hot showers, charging lockers, a washing-up Tea Shed and an honesty shop taking cash or card. Campfires are actively encouraged, with fire pits and logs ready to light, which makes for good slow evenings under dark skies. Dogs are welcome, children can run loose across the big field, and the Palk Arms pub is a short walk for a pint or a meal. This suits families, groups and campfire fans after a laid-back field rather than anyone needing electric hook-ups or resort polish. Weekend breakfasts and proper coffee are served from the May bank holiday through August.
