About this site

Hillside Camping and Caravan Site is a small, family-run campsite on the edge of Ringwood Forest at Gotham, near Verwood in east Dorset. The pitches sit among oak trees beside a 300 acre Forestry Commission woodland, with walking and cycling routes leading straight from the gate into Moors Valley Country Park and on into Verwood, where you will find pubs, shops and places to eat. Ringwood is a short drive away and the beaches of Bournemouth are around 30 minutes south. Hillside takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes across plenty of open space, and it also runs bell-tent glamping packages that are set up largely for hen weekends, so it suits groups after Bournemouth nightlife as much as campers who want a quiet forest base. The free shower block stays open 24 hours and includes an accessible wet room, and there is a separate washing-up area with free hot water. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead. The site is open from 28 April to 31 October, with pitches and glamping booked directly through Hillside.

Good to know

Are dogs allowed at Hillside Campsite?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome at Hillside and must be kept on a lead at all times. The site sits right beside Ringwood Forest and Moors Valley Country Park, so there is plenty of woodland walking straight from the gate for you and your dog to enjoy.
When is Hillside Campsite open?
Hillside is open seasonally, from 28 April to 31 October each year, and it closes over the winter months. Plan your trip for late spring through to the end of October, and book pitches or glamping directly with the site to check availability for your dates.
Does Hillside offer glamping?
Yes, Hillside runs bell-tent glamping packages with equipment provided, set up mainly for hen weekends. The site has two permanent glamping areas alongside its open camping space, so groups can combine a glamping base with easy access to Bournemouth nightlife. Book glamping directly with the site.
Is Hillside better for families or groups?
Hillside is a small, quiet family-run site with open space and forest walks, but its glamping is geared towards hen weekends and group stays. Families camping with tents or tourers are welcome, though busy hen-party weekends can make the site livelier than a typical quiet campsite.
How far is Hillside from the coast?
Bournemouth and its beaches are around a 30-minute drive south of the site. Closer to hand, Moors Valley Country Park and Ringwood Forest sit right beside the campsite for walking and cycling, and the town of Verwood is within walking distance for pubs, shops and food.
