About this site

Hook Farm Campsite is a deliberately wild, back-to-basics tent pitch on a family farm at West Hoathly, near East Grinstead in West Sussex. The site sits on Hook Lane, a five minute walk from West Hoathly village and its 15th-century Cat Inn, and around 15 minutes' drive from both East Grinstead and Haywards Heath. Four fields of secluded meadow and woodland offer pitch-where-you-like camping for tents and small campervans only, with no permanent buildings, no showers and cattle grazing the land over winter, so Hook Farm suits campers after a genuine wild camping trip rather than a facilities-heavy holiday park. It will not suit anyone wanting caravans, motorhomes, showers or a party atmosphere, since there is a strict no-music policy and the site only opens on weekends and bank holidays through the summer season, May to September. Well-behaved dogs camp free of charge, and children are welcome to run through the woods and fields. What stands out is the simplicity: cold running water, composting and chemical toilets, campfires allowed beside your pitch, and a genuine digital-detox feel close to Ashdown Forest and the Bluebell Railway. Prices start from £12 a night for adults, with children at £6.
