Why campers love it here
About this site
Ilex Farm is a small Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site set on a quiet arable and equestrian farm at Handley, near Clay Cross in North East Derbyshire. Like all Club certificated sites it is a five van spot, taking a handful of caravans, motorhomes or tents on three level grass terraces, with electric hook up available and tree lined slopes giving privacy and shade between them. The pitches look out over unobstructed views across the valley, and the whole place is set up for putting your feet up rather than for busy park facilities. Pitches are for Camping and Caravanning Club members, and the site is dog friendly, so a leisurely stroll with the dog straight from your pitch is part of the appeal. The farm also runs a professional livery yard and lets a smart barn conversion, Holly Cottage, for self catering stays. This corner of Derbyshire sits east of the main Peak District hills, so you get a calmer, rural base that is still well placed for days out: Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Bolsover Castle are all within reach, and the Peak District National Park and Derbyshire Dales are a short drive west. Ilex Farm suits couples and small parties after a peaceful, rural stay, and pitches are booked directly with the farm.
