Why campers love it here
About this site
Knitson Farm Tourers' Site is a low-density touring and camping field on a working farm under Nine Barrow Down, between Swanage and Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. The pitches spread over four acres, about 1.5 miles from the seaside town of Swanage, three miles from the sandy beaches and nature reserves at Studland and four miles from the village of Corfe Castle. This is excellent walking country, with footpaths and bridleways crossing the surrounding hills. The site takes touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, but it is deliberately back to basics: there are no toilets, no showers and no electric hook-ups, so you must be fully self-contained with your own chemical toilet, washing facilities and a fire extinguisher. Cold water taps and an Elsan disposal point are provided. Dogs are welcome on a lead, and owners need to clear up after them as there are no dog bins. Access is along narrow unclassified lanes, so it does not suit large or towed outfits arriving via the B3351, and everyone should follow the farm's directions in. Opening is limited to a short summer touring window, with seasonal pitches available from Easter to October. Contact Knitson Farm directly for current pitch availability and prices.
