Why campers love it here
About this site
Longthorns Farm is a family-run farm campsite and glamping site next door to Monkey World, near Wareham in Dorset, and it stays open all year. The site sits in rural countryside on the Isle of Purbeck's northern edge, with the Tank Museum at Bovington, Lulworth Cove and the Jurassic Coast all within a short drive, and Monkey World reachable on foot across the site. Camping is on large, well-kept fields that take tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans, with electric hook-up, a shower and toilet block, and evening campfires allowed. For those who prefer not to pitch a tent, glamping runs to eco pods, a shepherd hut and a teepee. It is genuinely dog-friendly, with a fenced dog paddock for off-lead exercise, water bowls around the site and dog bins throughout. Resident alpacas, a woodland walk and a peak-season farm shop, barn bar and hot food add to the draw, though late evenings are kept quiet, so it suits campers who want calm nights over a party atmosphere. Longthorns Farm is open all year and pitches start from £28 a night, which makes it a reliable base for Monkey World and wider Dorset days out.
